Steve specializes in Anglo-American relations during the eighteenth century and political economy in the Early Republic. He is particularly interested in the southern plantation complex as a business enterprise and its transformation with the end of British mercantilism during the Revolutionary Era. 

History represents a second career for Steve. He received an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Virginia and worked for many years as a financial consultant for accounting and investment banking firms. He works as a teaching assistant in the department.

Steve has presented research at conferences hosted by Texas A&M University and Florida State University. His work has been published in the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
